InterLAN-IX, established in 2005, by a Romanian association of telecom operators, is a neutral internet exchange point (IXP) designed to facilitate free traffic exchange across the Internet. It operates 18 Points of Presence (PoPs) across Romania, including in the major cities and in additional locations in Frankfurt and Sofia. This extensive network supports over 150 operators from Romania and beyond, encompassing a diverse range of network operators, educational networks, content providers, and enterprises.
With traffic exceeding 600 Gbps and partnerships in Europe, the US, and Asia-Pacific, InterLAN-IX is recognized as a significant IXP in Romania and South East Europe. The platform is committed to enhancing the performance of IP networking for all participants, promoting a robust local telecom community and contributing to global Internet infrastructure as a supporting member of Euro-IX and the RIPE NCC.
